Forestation and conservation of forest require a longer time span than a reduction of green house gas emissions. In the beginning, it may be challenging to generate profit from this operation. However, more trees can facilitate a project in a way that includes a conservation of biodiversity so that the activities can reach beyond green house gas emissions. I want more trees to do projects, which can really be beneficial to local inhabitants in a long-term perspective.
In the past, we saw extinction of civilization by a destruction of natures -- especially forests. I am hoping more trees to draw a new path, which allows co-existence and sustainability.

more trees was established with Mr. Ryuichi Sakamoto’s strong will and passion and supporters with a diverse background. I think more trees has a power to alter how we, the resident of earth, will interact with earth, as well as a way Japanese and the rest of our planet’s inhabitant interact with eachother.
Though not mentioned often, Japanese forests are in great danger, not to mention, many developing nations’ tropical forests are also being destroyed. We need to realize that destruction of forests in these countries is associated with current Japanese people’s consumption driven life style and economy. Such life style is jeopardizing precious lives existing on our planet.
I believe more trees is the one to tackle these issues. It’s not just crunching numbers of the quantity of CO2. We are in need to create a community for earth by associating people in urban area and rural area, as well as Japanese and people in developing countries, and through offsetting, I believe we can achieve this.
